e-Lychee
The name is a pun, but I guess I didn’t need to specify that. Elaichi (pronounced e-lie-chee) is the word for cardamom in Hindi, and lychees are famously (or infamously) pronounced as lie-chees in certain parts of the world. This drink combines both, and then some. Go on, give it a shake.
ingredients
2 ripe lychees, peeled and pitted
1/4 of a ruby red grapefruit
1/2 a lemon
3/4 oz simple syrup
2 oz whiskey of choice (I used this one by Swear Jar Craft Distillers)
3 drops cardamom bitters
Cubed ice
Grapefruit wedge, to garnish
method
Add the lychees to a cocktail shaker and muddle well. Squeeze and juice the quarter portion of grapefruit into the shaker. Do the same with the lemon. Add in the simple syrup, whiskey, bitters, and ice and shake well for 7-8 seconds. Strain into a double rocks glass, over ice. Drop in a grapefruit wedge to garnish.
